Madurodam, the Netherlands

So my family and I went on a daytrip to Madurodam in The Hague! 🙂 Madurodam is a miniature world of Dutch history and culture! It’s like a mini Netherlands. You can find here a mini Royal Palace of Amsterdam, mini trains, mini Schiphol Airport and all the important Dutch buildings in miniature size. Every Dutch person would recognize a lot of buildings in Madurodam. I’m not sure whether tourists from abroad would recognize a lot. The good part about Madurodam is the way they try to make it interactive. Trains, boat, cars and airplanes: they are really moving. And the Mars Candy Factory really makes Mars bars! Niceee! 🙂

Meet George

George? Who is George? And why do I need to meet George? Those questions raised when I walked down the movie theater at the entrance of Madurodam. The weather was beautiful (and to be honest, I only had one hour to visit the whole park) so I wasn’t sure wether I wanted to be in a movie theater or not. Anyway, I watched the movie and I can recommend it. Afterwards it makes so much sense who George is and why Madurodam exists. After the movie (which only lasts for 6 minutes) you walk down Madurodam and your trip through the Netherlands begins! 🙂

My favorites

I like it when I recognize things and buildings, but since I was born in the Netherlands I recognize almost everything. On the photograph down here you can see the Royal Palace, the National Monument and the ‘Nieuwe Kerk’ on the right. It’s Amsterdam! 🇳🇱  I visit Amsterdam very often. I think it is an amazing city. Very impressive how lifelike these buildings are made compared to real life. Beautiful!

Another favorite is this building below. You probably haven’t seen it before. It’s a museum in Leiden where you can take a spectaculair journey through the human body. I’ve actually never been into the museum itself but I have seen it built. I also lived in Leiden for like two years, so it kind of feels like coming home. I must say that the building looks better in real life. This copy is a bit discolored.

How cool is this football stadion down below?? I didn’t manage to take a good picture so it’s probably hard to see, but they made the public wear orange t-shirts and cheer for the Dutch national women’s football team. I like it very very much. The public is holding letters which spells ‘Oranje Leeuwinnen’. You can also see the Danish flag. The Dutch team played against Denmark in the finals op the European Championship and they won!  🇳🇱 😍️ I love to see how Madurodam tries to keep everything up-to-date.

Dutch National Football Team! 🙂

Dutch Waffle

At the end of our visit to Madurodam we bought a real Dutch Waffle. Freshly made. Delicious! 😋
