Stena Line Ferry to Scandinavia

The Stena Line ferry to Sweden is a nice way to travel to Sweden or Scandinavia in general. The boat goes overnight so the trip is very time efficient. Alle facilities are very good and the view from the ferry is very spectacular. 🙂 You can either travel a long way by car, or spend a lot of time and energy on a flight, or you can travel to Scandinavia by boat and wake-up the next morning well rested. 🙂 It’s like taking a 3-5 star hotel to Scandinavia.

Different cabines for a good night of sleep

You can choose from 24 different categories of cabins to stay in during your trip. The cabins vary from standard cabins to family cabins and luxury themed suites. You can even book a Panorama Suite with jacuzzi and an own terrace! I’d love to have a panorama suite with jacuzzi and an own terrace, but we decided to book a regular cabin.

Our cabine

Welcome in our cabine! 🙂 The cabine where we stay tonight is small but nice and cosy. There are three beds inside. All beds can be fold up to create more space. The bed was made when we arrived and there were clean towels. It’s like staying in a hotel. The bathroom is really small, but everything we need is there and everything is clean. The toilet works with a vacuum flush.

You won’t be hungry

Our boat left at 5:40 pm. We drove many kilometers so our stomachs were growling. Fortunately there are several restaurants on board, each with a different offer. Stena Scandinavica offers two restaurants: The Metropolitan and Taste. The Metropolitan provides an à la carte menu with seasonal dishes and an excellent drinks menu. Taste is a modern, all-inclusive buffet restaurant where you can enjoy Scandinavian dishes: especially fish and shellfish, but also meat and vegetarian dishes.

Which one to choose depends on how much you want to spend.  We thought both restaurants would be to expensive for a quick diner so we decided to buy a sandwich somewhere else on board. We payed both something like €5,20.

Free WiFi on board!

The Stena Line Ferry is provided with free WiFi on board and it’s great! The WiFi connection works perfectly. I’m actually writing this article with the Wifi provided by Stena Line. Of course it is not as fast as my WiFi back home, but what do you expect? We’re in the middle of the sea. I am still able to download and upload pictures though. The connection is a bit less good within your own cabine, but there are many nice spots to sit down and relax on board where you can grab your laptop or mobile phone and make some use of the internet. But why not just play a game with the whole family? 🙂

Beautiful views!

The upper deck of the ferry is a nice place to grab some fresh air and enjoy the nice view. Feel the wind blow through your hair and hear the waves hitting the boat. It is a nice place to be.

Where else can you watch such a beautiful sunset than from a boat in the middle of the sea?

Would I recommend to travel with Stena Line?

Yes, I would definitely recommend the Stena Line Ferry to Scandinavia. All facilities are good, no delays, good information provision and you arrive well rested in Sweden (or any country you’re traveling to with Stena Line).
