Gamle Bybro, the old town bridge<\/h2>\n
Gamle Bybro, the old town bridge crosses the river Nidelven. It connects the city centre with the popular neighbourhood\u00a0Bakklandet<\/em>. From the bridge you have a spectacular view of the\u00a0NTNU university\u00a0buildings,\u00a0the wharves, Bakke Bridge and the Trondheim fjord. Its nickname is The Portal of Happiness.<\/em>\ud83d\ude0a<\/p>\n You haven’t seen all of Trondheim without having crossed the old town bridge from the city centre to the Bakklandet neighbourhood. Here you can find many inviting cafes and restaurants and unique boutiques. Very unique is also the bike lift ‘Trampe’. It helps bikers all the way up from the bridge to the Kristiansten Fort. It is the first and only bicycle lift\u00a0in the world.<\/p>\n Gamle Bybro, Trondheim \u00a9 My Little Travel Stories<\/p><\/div>\n Trondheim is famous for it’s colorful wharves and their reflection in the\u00a0Nidelven river.\u00a0The wharves remind of the importance of Trondheim as a merchant city in the 19th and 20th century.<\/p>\n We didn’t have a lot of time when visiting Trondheim, but when you do: kayaking in the river Nidelven\u00a0gives you a great opportunity to\u00a0<\/strong>see the old wharfs\u00a0from the water so I would definitely rent a kayak.\ud83d\ude0a<\/p>\n The traders of Trondheim used the wharfs mostly as\u00a0storage space. You can see a lot of students walk around through the centre.
