The city is located on an island in the\u00a0Troms\u00f8ysundet and is connected to the mainland by bridges and a tunnel. Troms\u00f8 is a very popular city to study and is very often called &#8216;Paris of the north&#8217;. Troms\u00f8 is popular to visit in Winter to experience the northern lights. I visited Troms\u00f8 in August and I want to show you that it&#8217;s also a very nice place to visit during summer.\u00a0\ud83d\ude04<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"#ferry_tromso\">Ferry to Troms\u00f8<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#cable_car_to_top_of_tromso\">Cable car to the top of Troms\u00f8<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#polar_fjord_cruise_tromso\">Polar Fjord Cruise<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#botanic_gardens_tromso\">Botanic gardens in Troms\u00f8<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#city_Centre_tromso\">The city centre<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"ferry_tromso\">Ferry to Troms\u00f8<\/h2>\n<p>Troms\u00f8 is from the North as well as from the South of Norway very easily\u00a0accessible by ferry. It takes approximately 20 min between Breivikeidet -Svensby and 35 min between Lyngseidet -Olderdalen.<br \/>\nThe ferry between Brensholmen and Botnhamn (35 min) usually operates from April to August and is operated by Torghatten Nord.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"cable_car_to_top_of_tromso\">Cable car to the top of Troms\u00f8<\/h2>\n<p>The cable car in Troms\u00f8 runs from Solliveien in Tromsdalen up to the mountain ledge Storsteinen (421 m above sea level) in just four minutes. Many people choose to go up there to chase the Norhtern Lights.Troms\u00f8 is situated in the middle of the Northern Lights Belt and is thus \u00a0a prime spot for experiencing the Northern Lights. The best time \u00a0of the year however to see the Northern Lights is from September to April. Nevertheless, taking the cable car to the top of Troms\u00f8 is a very nice thing to do in summer.\u00a0\ud83d\ude07<\/p>\n<p>We payed 120 NOK each (stundent tickets) and went up with the cable car. Many footpaths give you the opportunity to go all the way to the top of the mountain. Along the way, enjoy delicious Arctic fish, drinks and snacks. Settle down in a warm cabin, or make use of the insulated body suits to stay on deck and admire the views. Keep your camera positioned at all times for some incredible photo opportunities!<\/p>\n<p>Experience the wildlife of the Troms\u00f8 region as you keep a look out for birds such as sea eagles, guillemots and eider ducks. Encounter puffins (in season), cormorants, seals and otters. See small pilot whales and dolphins playing in the water. It is part of the Tromso University Museum and located near their campus. It is only opened during summer so I don&#8217;t need to explain why you should visit this place in summer. Wooden buildings are no longer built due to fire prevention, but the colour of the remaining buildings tells us something about their owners. White painted buildings are more expensive than red painted buildings.
